He was a boy
She was a girl
Can I make it any more obvious
He was a punk
She did ballet
What more can I say
He wanted her
She'd never tell secretly she wanted him as well
But all of her friends
Stuck up their nose
They had a problem with his baggy clothes
He was a skater boy
She said see you later boy
He wasn't good enough for her
She had a pretty face
But her head was up in space
She needed to come back down to earth
Five years from now
She sits at home
Feeding the baby she's all alone
She turns on t.v
Guess who she sees
Skater boy rockin' up MTV
She calls up her friends
They already know
And they've all got
Tickets to see his show
She tags along
Stands in the crowd
Looks up at the man that she turned down
He was a skater boy
She said see you later boy
He wasn't good enough for her
Now he's a super star
Slamming on his guitar
Does your pretty face see what he's worth?
He was a skater boy
She said see you later boy
He wasn't good enough for her
Now he's a super star
Slamming on his guitar
Does your pretty face see what he's worth?
Sorry girl but you missed out
Well tough luck that boy's mine now
We are more than just good friends
This is how the story ends
Too bad that you couldn't see,
See the man that boy could be
There is more that meets the eye
I see the soul that is inside
He's just a boy
And I'm just a girl
Can I make it any more obvious
We are in love
Haven't you heard
How we rock each others world
I'm with the skater boy
I said see you later boy
I'll be back stage after the show
I'll be at the studio
Singing the song we wrote
About a girl you used to know
I'm with the skater boy
I said see you later boy
I'll be back stage after the show
I'll be at the studio
Singing the song we wrote
About a girl you used to know
This song is a childhood favorite. Coming out in August of 2002, my sister was 7 and I was 3. That being said, my sister was a bigger fan of the song than I was, but I always wanted to do everything she did, so I love it too. There are many memories I affiliate with this song as we listened to it mostly when we were in the old house in Elk Grove and on the way to our cabin. I also enjoy this song because it is upbeat and I cannot deal with sad slow songs.
Sk8er boi is an upbeat song. The fact that it is so fast moving makes it easy for many people to overlook the moral of the song. The song shows how people judge books by the cover. Everybody has done this at a time in their life, however, this can be very hurtful for people who are being judged. It has become so much a part of human nature, but people may be so hurt by this, they could result to suicide.
Another moral that this song shows in giving into peer pressure. The main person in this song has given into the peer pressure of her friends who tell her that the "skater boy" is not good enough for her. However, because of her friends, she missed out on dating a famous person. Although this is a mild consequence, many others who give into peer pressure have much more harsh consequences. This is because many people give into the pressure of drugs and drinking.
This song is amazing because of the upbeat of it and the morals that shape our lives. The artist, Avril Lavine, sings about because of the girl's mistake, she was able to date the boy of her dreams. Because of the girl who messed up because of her friends, Avril ended up dating her best friend from high school
